Kevada Masjid Panchmahal
In Champaner, Gujarat state, in western India, there is a mosque called Kevada Masjid. It is a component of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park. The mosque has narrow stairs, globe-shaped domes, and minarets. Ruggles (2008) claims that the Kevada mosque's architecture incorporates nature in a way that is uncommon in Islamic architecture elsewhere.
The masjid has a rectangular layout. The niches are decorated with floral and geometrical designs. The tribate inter-columns are thought to be appealing. There were three domes in the double-story prayer hall, but the central dome has since vanished. Over pillars, balconies with intricately carved decorations are built into the windows. Additionally adorned with intricate carvings are two minarets.
During the reign of Mahmud Begada, Champaner saw the construction of this mosque. In the 1890s, restoration work was carried out.
